How To Get Involved In Abortion Ministry, Both At Home And Outside

Hi everyone,
Sadly, some states in our country are stripping away incremental laws which had protected some children from being murdered by abortion. Some Christians in our nation are now awakening to the reality that abortion is murder, and are ready to do something to fight against it. In this post we will look at some ways that the Church of Christ can get involved to end abortion now.

First we will look at ways you can be involved from home:
Prayer
The most important thing you can do is pray. This is important both at home and on the street. Pray for those who are out at the abortion mills proclaiming the Gospel. Pray that they would be filled with God's Spirit, that they would proclaim Christ and His Gospel boldly, that God would give them wisdom to act in whatever situation that may arise, that they would be given a love for those they are ministering to. Pray also for their physical safety. Pray that they would be able to endure whatever may come their way. Pray for them to respond to those who persecute them with grace, love, and the Gospel. Pray also for strength, emotionally and spiritually.

Pray also for those who will hear, or read, the Gospel. That God would use it to draw people to Himself and that he would grant people repentance and faith. Pray for the salvation of the abortionist, the nurses, and the deathscorts.

Pray for the mothers and fathers, and other companions, that they would be saved. Pray that God would open the eyes of the parents to the truth, that they would be given a love for their child.

Pray also for the babies who are scheduled to be murdered, that they would be saved.

Another way to get involved from home, is to the use the resources God has given you in the form of technology to share the truth of what is happening.
  • Social Media
If you have a social media account, use it to share the truth about abortion. Explain why abortion is the murder of a human being created in the image of God. Explain the biblical reasons why Christians are to be against abortion and their duty to love their neighbor. Share stories of babies who have been saved. Also share prayers requests for those out at the abortion mills.

End Abortion Now, is a ministry based in Arizona which provides training and materials to Churches to get involved in abortion ministry. End Abortion Now makes it super easy to start to proclaim the truth on social media. Look at this link: Proclaim The Truth. They provide both a Facebook cover photo and a Facebook profile picture. They also provide images which you can post, along with text to copy and paste. It is really simple.

Zachary Conover from End Abortion Now, has a very good video series called "This Is Why".  They explain why abortion is still legal. Watch these videos and share them on social media. This Is Why
  • Newspapers
Something else you can do, is write to newspapers. Letters to the editor are an awesome way to spread the truth. I have done this before. If you see an article in a newspaper about abortion, write a Christian response. This is a link to one of my posts where I share my letter to the editor. Are "Abortion Protesters" Taking Away A Person's God Given Right To Choose?
  • Contact legislators
Another way to get involved is to contact legislators, police, and other government officials. End Abortion Now makes this very easy as well. End Abortion Now, has a form on their website, which is linked below, where you enter your zip code and it brings up a pre-written message to send to your legislators. The website also already has the contact information for your legislators. You add your information, such as name, address, email address, etc. It is really easy to do. Note: this does not include police.

If you prefer you can also write your own message to the government.  This is an essay I wrote: A Call To The Government Of The State Of Maine

I have also contacted the chief of police in Portland about abortion. You can call upon the police department in a city where an abortion mill is located to do his duty as regards abortion. Here is a link to my email: Call To The Portland Maine Chief Of Police

  • Write To Pastors
Consider writing to pastors in the city where an abortion mill is located. Urge them to stand up for the voiceless children who are being murdered and show them their duty as Christians to speak against this atrocity, and proclaim the Gospel.

Join Those Who Are Already On The Front Lines
Something else that is easy to do, is just join those who are on the front lines of abortion ministry. Encourage them in their work. Share Scriptures with them and ask how you can be praying for them.

Think of other things you can do to bless those out at the mill. Buying Gospel tracts is cheaper if you buy them in bulk. If you are ordering tracts, consider asking someone in ministry if they would like you to get a larger order so they can get a cheaper price. Do you have winter clothing that may be helpful in keeping people warm on the street? Consider giving them some. If you would like to purchase things you can ask them what would be helpful to them. Maybe insulated cups to keep their drinks either warm or cold while they are out?

Something that you can do, is make things to give to mothers either at the abortion mill, or mother's who choose life. If you like to knit or crochet, you can consider making baby hats to be delivered to women going into the abortion mill, to remind them of their baby. You can also make things to be delivered to women who choose life for their babies, hats, booties, sleepers, etc.

Now we move on to things you can do outside your home:
Encouraging Those Involved
If you live near an abortion mill where people minister, considering bringing them drinks and praying for them. Cold water in the summer or a cup of hot chocolate in the winter, can be a great blessing. If your Church is supportive of abortion ministry on the streets and they are located near an abortion mill, consider hosting a meal for those who go out to the abortion mill, after ministry some day.

There is a Church in Portland, where we minister, who are a great blessing to our group. They bring us water while we are out on the street and pray with people from our group. Their Church also invited our group over for lunch one day. It does not have to be something fancy. They ordered pizza, and it was an amazing blessing.

Go Out To The Abortion Mills
Again, End Abortion Now, is helpful with this. If your Church leadership approves, sign up your Church with End Abortion Now. End Abortion Now Join The Coalition When you do this, they will provide you with training resources and materials to use out at the abortion mill, including signs and tracts.

When you go out to the abortion mill, take into consideration any laws on amplification. Follow the law, and never ever engage in physical violence.

Here are some things that are good to do outside the mill.
Pray.
This is still important. You can kneel on the ground if you feel led.

Hold Signs
Signs from End Abortion Now are great, but you can also make you own signs.
Pass Out Tracts
There are many good tracts out there. You can check out Chapel Library. HeartCry Missionary Society also has an amazing tract by Paul Washer. Ryan Denton also has tracts. By the way, I love his "Dear Christian" tract! Living Waters even has a tract called "Life In The Womb".
Preach
There are not enough godly men preaching the Gospel on the streets of America. This is a great thing to do outside an abortion mill. Your sermon does not have to be centered on abortion. Make sure the Gospel is your main priority.
Read Scripture Aloud
Just grab a Bible and start reading. Do so loud enough that passersby can hear you, and read boldly. The Word of God is living and active. Proclaim it with power!
Try To Engage People In Conversation
Talk to those passing by and inform them about what is happening. Proclaim the Gospel to everyone you can.
Plead With Those Who Are Going Into The Abortion Mill
Plead with mother to have mercy on their children. Plead with fathers to stand up and protect women and children. Let them know that you are there to help, ask them to talk to you. Offer them literature. Tell them about Christ, although your time may be short you can plead with them to repent and turn to Christ in faith. You can also tell that there is life in Jesus Christ. You can also tell them that the clinic is a place of death.
Note:
If you are out at the abortion mill, recording can be helpful. I suggest recording whenever you are out at the mill. Audio footage or body camera footage, can be used as legal evidence both in cases of physical assault or if you have a confrontation with the police. Recording can be a great protection. It can provide an accurate account of what was said and what happened. Those who murder children are also not afraid of lying about those who confront their murderous actions. If you have a smart phone you could use an audio recorder app on that. Amazon also sells audio recorders. We have a Safevant body camera which is good, although they are expensive.

Legality
It is legal for you to stand on public property and exercise your first amendment rights. Make you are not on private property, check any laws on amplification if you plan to use any, do not block any walkways, do not force people to take literature, don't threaten violence.

If you have any negative confrontation with the police consider talking to a good lawyer. Center For Religious Expression, and Thomas More Law Center, are both amazing.

Police officers will sometimes remain within the law and only issue lawful orders, some police officers however, can make unlawful commands. Make sure you know your rights, and have good legal help, but if you are unsure of what is correct, follow police orders and ask a lawyer later. Here is a list of guidelines for talking with law enforcement officers. Guidelines For Talking With Law Enforcement Officers

Meet With Your Legislators
Another way to get involved is to meet with your legislators and tell them the truth about abortion and why they must do all they can to abolish abortion. If you are able to speak before the city counsel of a town that has an abortion mill, I would encourage you to take the opportunity. Leadership and members of Apologia Church spoke before the Phoenix, Arizona city counsel. Here are some videos of that. Desiree Maes, Jeff Durbin, Zachary Conover, Luke Pierson.

For pastors and elders:
I would like to call pastors to lead their congregations in the fight against abortion.
Preach On Abortion
Preach a sermon explaining how the Gospel relates to abortion and confronting the culture of death. Point out that abortion is murder, what the Bible says about human life, and how the Church should respond.
Encourage Your Congregation To Get Involved
Encourage your congregation to get involved both from home and on the streets. Consider praying together as a Church for those who are doing abortion ministry, and pray for the end of abortion, encourage your congregation to do the same.
Church Movie Night
Consider hosting a Church Movie Night and show the movie Babies Are Murdered Here. You could do a meal and a prayer time.
Sign Up Your Church With End Abortion Now

I hope that if you are not yet involved in abortion ministry, this will give you some ideas to get started.

Guidelines For Talking With Law Enforcement Officers

Hi everyone,
I hope this list will provide help to those who are involved in open air ministry, as to how to interact with law enforcement officers.

Guidelines For Talking With Law Enforcement Officers
  • Study your legal rights and any local laws relating to your activities.
  • Have a good Christian lawyer. I suggest Thomas More Law Center, Center For Religious Expression, or Alliance Defending Freedom. Our family ministry uses Center For Religious Expression for legal help related to free speech issues. We are very blessed by their work.
  • If a confrontation from law enforcement occurs, assert your rights, and be bold, yet respectful. Never raise your voice to an officer.
  • Carry with you local laws relating to street preaching and free speech. If you have ever had trouble with law enforcement in the past and have any information from lawyers regarding what activities are allowed, take that information with you.
  • If you think you may have trouble with law enforcement in a certain location, put your lawyer's phone number as a contact in your phone so that you have quick access to legal help.
  • When you know you have the right to engage in your activities, defend that right. If you think that you may be in the wrong, comply with the officer's request and contact a lawyer to obtain information about the situation and what activities are allowed.
  • If the police arrive always take either video or audio recording of all communication if possible. This may prove helpful in the future if any legal action ensues. Recording all activities on the street can be useful but if that is not an option for you make sure you record at least any interaction with law enforcement.
  • Have a list of “Questions for police officers” ready to use if the need arises. Below is a list of sample questions:
What is your name and rank in the police department?”
(This can be helpful in the future so that you know who you talked to.)
What law am I breaking?”
(If you are not breaking a law then law enforcement has no authority to tell you to stop your activities.)
Is there a way I can continue my activities while obeying the law?”
(If you can make a minor adjustment and continue your activities, you can do so, you can always contact a lawyer later.)
Will I be arrested or cited if I do not comply with your requests?”
(If this answer is “no” then feel free to continue your preaching. Police can make suggestions but if those do not carry the force of law then they are merely suggestions.)
What is the best way for my lawyers to contact you?”

  • Always ask the officer questions so that you can fully understand what is being said and what is being asked of you.
  • If you believe that your rights are being taken away and are planning to take legal action against the officer, tell them so. Say something like, “Sir/Ma'am I believe you are unjustly infringing on my Constitutional rights and I will seek legal action against you.”
  • If you have trouble with an officer acting unjustly, consider contacting the chief of police or other supervisors to explain the issue with which you are dealing. I have had success with this in the past. When an officer acted unjustly, I contacted the police department and they started an internal investigation and we were able to avoid going to court. Yet the officer was still held accountable for his actions. This approach may not work but you can always try.

A Call To The Portland Maine Chief Of Police

Hi everyone,
This is a letter I wrote about abortion to the Portland Maine Chief of Police.

"Hello Chief Malloch,
I know we have corresponded in the past but I would like to give an introduction. I serve with Pro-Life Missionaries of Maine and at certain times of the year I minister on the sidewalk outside Planned Parenthood, at 443 Congress Street, ministering to lost souls and proclaiming the Gospel of Christ. We seek to do this in a manner that is lawful, as we believe in obeying the authorities God has placed over us, so far as they do not command us to disobey our God.

As a Christian I believe in the value of human life from conception to natural death. Every human being at the point of fertilization is a person, endowed with the right to life by their Creator God in whose image they are created.

I would like to appeal to you as a magistrate in the city of Portland to do justice for all people who fall under your protection. Everyday in our country, more than 3,000 children are murdered by abortion. Almost every Friday, in your city, babies, human beings, persons you are supposed to protect, are literally torn limb from limb. D&E abortions, which are performed in your city, are a gruesome act of murder, against children. If anyone else was murdered by these means, it would be called inhumane, however when this is done to a child in the womb, it is called "healthcare" or a "woman's right". This is evil and must be stopped.

As a magistrate who has sworn to uphold the constitution, you have a duty to protect life. I am aware that many people today believe that an errant court decision from 45 years ago, is binding law over our country. The issue is that Roe v. Wade is not law. The Supreme Court cannot make laws, and when they rule against the constitution and say that murder is acceptable, they must not be obeyed but rather ignored. An example is Dred Scott. It was not overturned, it was ignored.

You have a duty to enforce justice. You may say that you are neutral as regards abortion but there is no neutrality. Either you are for life or you are for death. You have authority in this city, and with that authority comes rights and a duty. (See lessermagistrate.com) Because of your position of authority, if you stand by doing nothing, after now being told that children are being murdered in your city, you are complicit to the murder of children, you are neglecting your oath to protect human life, and you are perverting justice.

I plead with you as an ambassador of Jesus Christ to do everything within your power to stop the murder of the innocent which takes place under your watch. Do not provide security for those who murder the unborn. Please use your position to call on higher magistrates to abolish abortion. Please do not enforce laws which provide special protections for abortionists, or those which seek to limit the freedoms of those who plead for the lives of children.

I urge you to stand up for justice, use your power to protect life, not stand complicit to murder, and do all you can to end abortion now.

Babies are being murdered in your city, what will you do to stop it?

Sincerely,
Virginia Cowperthwaite"
