Spiritual warfare and Salvation

Hi everyone.
Yesterday we had yet another chance to minister outside the abortion mill and once again the wickedness of this world was displayed in those we saw. We thought that we would not have as many people as usual but it turned out to be a good size crowd standing for life.

We had a few of the occasional fingers and people yelling from cars but not too many unusual things happened. We did have one man who was a cross-dresser who was mad at me and Daddy. He was very angry and told us that "God is dead, science killed him." I wonder if he was an atheist. I wonder how atheists can believe that God both does not exist and is dead. Did he exist in the past and has since died? I'm confused. They already don't make sense and have no justification for knowledge anyway, their entire worldview is wrong so why should I expect that they would make sense in any of the things that they say.  They have rejected the truth about God and worshiped and served the creature rather than the creator who is blessed forever amen. Romans 1:25 says that instead of worshiping the one true God they instead serve themselves and fulfill the lusts of their evil hearts. We preach to people such as this in the hopes that God will save them from their sins and trust in Him alone for salvation.

We had one man who said that their baby had died 2 weeks ago and they were going to Planned Parenthood because it would cost them a lot of money to go to a hospital. As we have said, the hospital cannot deny you access to a procedure without regard to cost if it is life threatening and you cannot afford it. You do not need to go to the murderers for healthcare!

Daddy had a heckler. It was a man from the 4th story of the apartment section of the building that the abortion mill is located in. When Jeremy finished preaching the man called out the window, "finally, some peace and quite." Daddy told him that we were just taking a break and we would be back soon. He probably did not like that but we do not stop preaching because someone does not like it. If we stopped every time someone got annoyed with us we would never be preaching.

Since we did not have much happen today I thought I could write about something else. I chose Spiritual warfare and the need for Gospel proclamation.

Today in our culture many wicked things such as murder and perversion are not only accepted but celebrated. This is wickedness and in the end it will lead to eternal damnation for those who practice such things. By the grace of God we have been saved from our transgressions and sins and we have the message of hope for those who are still dead in their sins. Why are we ashamed of sharing that message? The world is proclaiming their false views with a loud and powerful voice, where are the Christians who will stand up and proclaim the truth to counter the lies of the world?

We are at war and many professing Christians are sitting at home watching football instead of studying the Word and proclaiming the Gospel. I am not saying that watching football is evil, but I am saying that our command to preach the Gospel must be of first importance. Nowhere in the Bible are we commanded to watch football but we were commanded to preach the Gospel and to make disciples. It is not only football that comes in the way of our Christian life though. Movies, sports, jobs, school and whatever else we do, can become things that hinder us from learning how to better glorify God and obey His commands. Let us all work to give God fist priority in our hearts and lives!

The weapons of war which we use in the fight for men's souls are not physical but they are real and powerful! The devil is real and is at work in the sons of disobedience and he wants the minds of people. Are we willing to accept this truth and do whatever it takes to battle the culture of death and lies with the message of truth and life through Jesus Christ? Christianity is not a game, it is a matter of eternal life and death and must be taken seriously! We do not become a Christian and continue to live our life as if nothing had ever happened. When we become Christians our life is completely transformed. We are now new creations is Christ Jesus and He is Lord of our lives.

We no longer work to fulfill our own agenda, we are the servant of the Lord Jesus Christ and it is His agenda that we seek to fulfill in everything that we do and say. As men created in the image of God our chief end is to glorify God. God is glorified in our proclaiming His truth to the world and our obedience to His word. Are we willing to give everything we have to see Him glorified, even our very lives? Are we willing to sacrifice everything for the sake of Christ's glory, Gospel and kingdom? Many men and women have sacrificed their lives for the Gospel! But in America people have accepted a watered down version of Christianity where you say a prayer and walk an aisle and then you are saved and you are going to heaven and no matter what you do God will forgive you. This is not how it works. You must repent and turn to Christ in faith, trusting in Him alone for Salvation. You are not saved by saying a prayer because you think it will do something good for you even though you still love sin and do not want your life to change, you just want to add Jesus to your life.

Once you are saved your life will be hard. Your friends may reject you. You will be persecuted. And you may lose your very life for the sake of the Gospel. The only way that anyone can be saved is if God in His great mercy has chosen from the creation of the world to save them. Not because of anything that they did but because of His great mercy and love. (Yes I am a Calvinist and I am proud of it!!! I still love people who are not Calvinists though!) If you are saved you may still sin but you will hate it because God hates it. You will love righteousness because that is what God loves. You will not continue to live you life the same way as you did before you were saved, because then you were dead in you sins and now you are alive in Christ! Christ is not something that you can add to you life. Jesus Christ will change you life! This is true Salvation! We must realize that the war on sin is not trivial! It is real and we are fighting against a powerful force of evil. But our God is more powerful and he has already won the fight. Will we continue to trust in Christ alone to give us the power to win the world for His glory? Fight the good fight and do not stop until Christ comes again and we are taken to glory!

Prayer
Continue to pray for Mike Stockwell and Mike Overd as they go back to court on Monday. Adrian Clark was acquitted by the grace of God! I hope that this is a good sign for the proceeding court dates. But continue to pray that these men will not be punished for crimes that they did not commit. Pray that God would give them opportunities to preach the Gospel. Pray that God would grant repentance and faith to those who are judging their case. Pray that they would be given comfort in this time, that God would give them the words to say, and that God would be glorified!

A letter to the newspaper on (not really) abortion

Hi everyone.
Below is a letter that I wrote in response to the news story in Bangor Daily News by Julia Hathaway. In the story Mrs. Hathaway talks about her D&E and calls it an abortion. She commits the fallacy of false analogy by then saying that the story that is then cited is similar to her own. It was not. In Mrs. Hathaway's situation her baby had already died. In the story that is then cited the baby had not died and the mother murdered it. These are 2 totally different situations and deserve 2 totally different responses. A D&E is not murder, it takes place after a baby has already died. An abortion is when the mother murders her child in her womb. I should not be hopeful that my response will be published in the paper but I hope that it will at least be read and the points will be considered.

I am writing today in response to the article on BDN here https://bangordailynews.com/.../i-made-the-difficult.../...

My name is Virginia Cowperthwaite and I am 13 years old. I recently read your article by Julia Hathaway and have spotted a few logical fallacies and a misrepresentation of the pro-life position. I am a Christian, an active abolitionist of abortion and advocate for the pre-born who are slaughtered by the thousands in our country everyday. I wish to make known my concerns with the article and that is the reason for my writing to you today.

The first thing that I would like to point out is that Mrs. Hathaway did not have what is commonly known as an abortion. She had a procedure known as a "D&E" (Dilation and Evacuation) and while the basic procedure is the same, this is completely different than what we stand against. An abortion is when a mother makes a plan to end the life of her child in her womb either surgically or medically. She then executes her plan and purposely pays someone to slaughter her child. A D&E such as Mrs. Hathaway had is performed after a baby has died in the womb of natural causes and the the pro-life movement is not against this surgery. It is true that the D&E that Mrs. Hathaway had may have saved her fertility and her life, but her story has nothing to do with abortion.

I have lost 2 siblings to miscarriage and I know the pain that is felt when you find out that you have lost that precious baby. As Christians and abortion abolitionists we mourn with those who have lost babies in this way and while my mother has not had to have a D&E performed, we understand that it is used to remove a baby's body from the uterus after it has died and we are in no way protesting this procedure. What we are protesting is the planned murder of children in the womb, known commonly as abortion.

I also want to note that every baby/fetus is a unique human being at the moment of conception. Fetus is a Latin word that means offspring. You could just as easily call it a baby instead of speaking Latin when it is not needed. It is a human baby/fetus created in the image of God as soon as conception takes place. This is why we are abortion abolitionists, because abortion purposely kills a baby that is created in God's image.

Aborted fetuses/babies have been murdered, killed in execution of a purposeful plan intended to end the life of a living person. However, babies that have passed away naturally are not aborted, they have died of natural causes. Abortion abolitionists do make abortion a black and white issue because it is. God has said that you shall not murder, and that is very clear.. Abortion is murder! Mrs. Hathaway is correct in one aspect of her representation of a pro-life position in saying that all unborn babies have a right to life and that pregnancy is a gift from God that must not be terminated. However, there is no stigma on our part against women who have miscarriages, rather we mourn with them, weep with them, and provide comfort and care as Jesus Christ commanded us to do. It is the sovereign will of God that decides whether or not that baby will die or live.

The next story in the article is different from Mrs. Hathaway's story. The baby had not yet died, and so abortion was used to purposefully end the life of a living human being with no regard to their God given (and Constitutionally protected) right to life. It is not okay to kill a baby that you believe to be dying. You do what you can to save the baby and leave it to the sovereign will of God. You do not murder it just because you think it may die.

The story about Stephanie commits the fallacy of bifurcation, or a false dilemma. She says that she chose abortion over suicide twice. The option that is not mentioned is that she could save the life of her baby and her own life. In performing the abortion she committed murder and if she had committed suicide it also would have been murder. She was taking away the life of a baby created in the image of God rather than nurturing and protecting that life.

If Elaine from the next story did not know how to take care of herself let alone a baby she should not have had sex with a man that resulted in the creation of the baby. Even if she was not consenting to sex, killing a child is not a moral answer to unplanned pregnancy.

In the next story the mother should not have had sex with a man if she could not care for the baby. Also, after she did conceive, it was a baby that she then murdered because she did not know how to explain to her other child that she had to put the baby up for adoption. I would like to point out that people from our group of abolitionists and others around the country would happily support a mother who needs help from housing to clothing for the baby and many other things. Even if abolitionists were not willing to support this mother it is not their obligation to take care of the baby. The mother is the one who had sex and it is the mother who should take care of the baby.

These stories are not like Mrs. Hathaway's, whereas her baby had already died. The babies in the other stories were alive, and they were murdered by their mothers. Building a case as if the issues are same is the fallacy of false analogy, and ends in the fallacy of irrelevant thesis.

I am not saying that people should not have access to D&E procedures. What I am saying is that abortion is murder and must be recognized as such. It must be abolished immediately! I hope that my message is clear. And I thank you for your time in considering my concerns. I also would like to say; the most important thing that any of us could ever understand is that Jesus Christ is KING and LORD! He came to the earth to die on a cross for the sins of everyone who will turn to Him in repentance and faith. He then rose again and will one day come again to take his children home with Him to heaven. He is the only who can save us from our lives of sin. We must turn to Him in repentance and faith. To Him alone be all glory, honor and praise, forever amen! This indeed is the greatest message of all and until people recognize this truth we will still be a nation that is need of of repentance!

~Virginia Cowperthwaite.

Prayer
Please be praying for brother Mike Stockwell as he goes back to court in England on the 23 concerning the charges against him from last year. Pray that he would not punished for speaking the truth. Pray that God would give him the words to say and that he would be able to proclaim Christ to everyone he encounters. Pray that God would grant repentance and faith to the judge and that he would rule justly.
With love in the Lord,
Virginia

P.S. Does anyone know anything about the group "Created Equal"? We are considering getting some graphic signs and we see that they have some, but we would like to know a little more about them before we get signs that have their name on them. If anyone has any insight on this issue I would love to hear it. Please either write in the comments or send me an email at Maine4Jesus@gmail.com. Thank you for your help.

Arguments for abortion and arguments against open air evangelism: Refuted.

Hi everyone.
I do not know how many of you have been following Apologia Church in their quest to End Abortion Now. One of the ways that they are doing this is by taking videos from their time at the abortion mill and posting them on the web to equip other Christians in this ministry. Just last night I watched their video Planned Parenthood Activist: Refuted. It was a conversation that they recorded outside Planned Parenthood. For those of you who are active in the fight at the front lines of the abortion mills around the world, you have probably heard plenty of terrible arguments from those who try to justify the murder of the preborn.

For those who are not familiar with these arguments I would like to take some time and give some ways to nicely refute these arguments. Realize that I said nicely. We are called to give a defense of our faith yet we are to do it in gentleness and respect, (1 Peter 3:15). We should not mercilessly beat our opponents over the head and then leave them there hopeless with a demolished worldview. As Sye Ten Bruggencate has said, "Be about the cure" Instead we should gently show them the error of their ways and that they are sinners in need of the Savior. We should show them that their worldview is wrong and that it is absurd. We should show them the logical conclusion of their worldview and show them that if their worldview was true, which it is not, it would lead to the absurd conclusion that you could not know anything at all. Since they do know things to be true it proves that their worldview is wrong and the Christian worldview is right.

Here are some arguments I have heard from those who promote abortion and answers from me:

Argument #1) "It is just a clump of cells".
Answer: No it is not. At the moment of conception it is a human being, created in the image of God, deserving of the same protection as any other human being. The baby in the womb is no less human then the person making the argument. And, by the way, all humans are clumps of cells. That is what our bodies are made out of. For some reason I do not think that they would agree with that logic if a murderer used it in a court defense though.

Argument #2) "It is not a baby it is a fetus".
Answer: The word fetus simply means offspring.  And the offspring of a human is a human, nothing else. A human cannot give birth to anything that is not human. It is still a baby created in the image of God.

Argument #3) "But it cannot survive without its mother."
Answer: You could not survive if God did not give you every breath of air that you take. Everyone is completely dependent on God for their lives.

Argument #4) "The mother may not be able to take care of a baby".
Answer: We are willing to help women who need it. No matter what situation the baby will be born into is not a reason for you to murder them before they are born.

Argument #5) What if the mother does not want a baby at this point in her life? Should she be burdened with taking care of a child if she does not want to."
Answer: If she did not want a baby she should not have been in a relationship with a man so that she could get pregnant if she did not want a baby. And babies are still blessings no matter if the parents accept that gift or not.

Argument #6) "What if the mother was raped?"
Answer: A child shall not be punished for the sins of their fathers. The man should be punished but the baby is still a gift from God and should be recognized and treated as such.

Argument #7) "My body my choice."
Answer: The body inside your body is a baby and is not your body.

Another thing that those involved in open air evangelism and abortion ministry may hear does not always come from the world, sometimes it comes from those in the church. Here are a few arguments that you may hear from professing Christians. And we must again answer with gentleness and respect.

Argument #1) "By preaching in the open air you may turn people away from God"
Answer: People who have not been bought by the blood of Jesus Christ are already dead in their trespasses and sins and we can not make them any more dead than they already are. We preach in the hopes that God will work in their lives and that He will grant them repentance and faith so that they may have eternal life. We proclaim Christ because we are commanded to by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. People already rejected God and we preach so that they may hear the words of life.

Argument #2) "Your method is just too radical".
Answer: Jesus preached in the open air so why shouldn't we? Christ is the ultimate example and we should follow Him in all that we do. You also can find a lot of people on the street that you would never find other places. We go where the people are and that may seem radical to some but we will proclaim Christ in the highways and byways the message of the Gospel is the most important message every told and Christ is the only one worthy of worship. Are we willing to give all to see the Gospel proclaimed?

Argument #3) "Preaching on the street looks confrontational. Can't you find a way that is not so confrontational?"
Answer: People are suppressing the truth about God and spitting in His face. The truth of the Gospel is confrontational. While we should be gentle in our approach we must speak the truth even if it offends some people. Not everyone will accept the message of Christ but we were still commanded to preach the Gospel. Christ did not say "Preach the Gospel but do not confront sin." When the Gospel is proclaimed sin will be confronted.

Argument #4) "Your message does not sound loving."
Answer: If the Gospel does not sound loving to you, you do not understand it. The people of this world are dead in their sins and the message of the Gospel is the only thing that can save them from an eternity in hell under the wrath of Almighty God. Sharing the Gospel with them is the most loving thing we could ever do for them.

Please follow the link below to see more of what atheist Penn Jillette said because it is powerful: Gospel coalition. I have to say, I totally agree with Penn Jillette on this issue and I think that this quote is worth posting. Even though he is an atheist, he does have this right. As he has said before,

"How much do you have to hate somebody to believe everlasting life is possible and not tell them that? “I mean, if I believed, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that a truck was coming at you, and you didn’t believe that truck was bearing down on you, there is a certain point where I tackle you. And this is more important than that.”

Argument #5) " Judge not."
Answer: We are supposed to proclaim Christ and the Gospel. We are not condemning them. They are already condemned for their sins against a holy and righteous God. We are just telling them that there is hope in Jesus Christ and that He is willing to save anyone who will turn to him in repentance and faith. Matthew 7 does not say not to judge, but to judge righteously and understand that we will all be judged by God. We apply His standard to expose sin, but don't stand in judgement. Rather, we urge people to repent before the coming judgement.

Prayer Points
Please be praying for persecuted Christians around the world. These are our brothers and sisters in Christ who have given their lives for the sake of Christ. Pray that they will be comforted by God and that they will continue to be bold in their faith. Pray for their safety and pray for their families as they to suffer when their loved ones are persecuted.

Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body. Hebrews 13:3

Another precious life saved from murder, and another week of evangelism!

Hi everyone.
We were very excited by the news that we heard this Friday. God worked in the hearts of a mother and father at the abortion mill and God saved the life of yet another one of His precious little image bearers! We are so thankful for this new little life and I hope that we will be able to minister to this family as they raise this little baby. Please pray that God would grant them repentance and faith in Jesus Christ and that they would raise their baby in the fear and admonition of the Lord. We thank God that He saved this baby's life! Join us in praising Him for His awesome and glorious works! This makes 3 babies saved from abortion since the start of this year in Portland alone! God is at work at these abortion mills, babies are being saved!

This week we were not at the abortion mill as it is our week off, but God gave us other venues where we could proclaim His glorious Gospel. Our big outreach for this week was big for our small town yet tiny compared to others. We find a group bigger than 80 a crowd here in our small part of Maine. A local theater was showing live streaming of the Super Bowl so we went to pass out tracts outside. We had a sign that had a quote from Matthew Slater. Matthew is a wide receiver for the New England Patriots and he is also a professing christian. We found a quote from him that seemed quite fitting for the occasion as people were wondering who would win the "big game". The quote said this,"Victory has already been won on Calvary and that's all that Really Matters." How true that is! It does not matter who wins the game, what matters is the souls of men. We must urge everyone to repent and trust in Christ alone for Salvation He is the only one able to save! I do find it funny when people come up and ask us what we are protesting. I should have told them that we are protesting sin. We were not protesting football, our family just does not care much about football. If you do, great, I just do not find watching a whole bunch of men run around tackling each other to be as fun as some other things I could be doing. But people find different things fun I guess. We were just content with passing out tracts and then leaving after people went inside for the game.

We only had a few people get angry at us, which can be expected when you confront sinners with the truth. Not that it is a good thing that they get mad and should be counted as something to rejoice in but we know that people reject the truth of God's Word and they are not happy when we tell them that they are sinners in need of a Savior, that Savior being Christ Jesus. We must remember to pray for those who persecute us and pray that God would open their eyes to the truth as He has done for us. Not because of anything that we did, but out of His amazing grace and mercy! He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son. In whom we have redemption the forgiveness of sins! People are still in slavery to sin and we must proclaim the Gospel to them in the hopes that God would save them from their lives of sin and that He would make them new creatures set apart for the work of our Savior Jesus Christ! The only one worthy of our praise!

We did see one lady last night who said that she would be probably be saying the name of Jesus Christ (in vain) a lot. How wicked is this world that people will openly admit to taking God's name in vain! God their creator who by His grace gives them the very breath that they breathe. Yet they turn around and blaspheme His holy name! This is what happens when people suppress the truth about God and embrace evil and give approval to others who do the same things as well.I thought a proper response would be to just tell her what the Bible says on the issue. "You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain. For the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain."

I just recently watched the movie October Baby and it is great. It is loosely based on a true story of a girl who was a survivor of a saline abortion. After 18 hours she was born alive and her life was saved because the abortionist had not arrived at work yet that day. If the abortionist had been there the girl probably would have been murdered or left to die. Thank you God that this girl was saved! She now is able to share her story with many people and she is able to proclaim Christ's name to others as well! If God had not saved her life she would have been killed by her own mother. Yet God saved her life and she now serves Him and she has a testimony that many of us do not have and I pray that God would use her to proclaim His gospel to many people!

Prayer
Please be praying for our family as just yesterday some of our family came down with a stomach bug. Please pray that we will still be able to make it down to the abortion mill on Friday and that we would still be able to do any other ministry that God would have us to do.

Please be praying as there is man who is in the government in Texas who is in support of the bill that would ban abortion in Texas. He is now getting death threats. Pray for his safety and pray that this bill would go through so that abortion will be abolished in Texas. And not only in Texas but pray that abortion will be abolished everywhere! That people would stop slaughtering God's creation who is created in His image!

Pray for Mike Stockwell, Robert Gray, Sye Ten Bruggencate and all the other street preachers who faithfully proclaim Christ on the streets. Pray that they would be safe and pray that they will not be hindered from their preaching by the law enforcement and others who not always, but sometimes try to stop the preaching of the Gospel. Pray that peoples hearts would be changed by the power of the Gospel as it is faithfully proclaimed in the open air by faithful men of God such as these.

With love in the Lord,
Virginia.
