Arguments for abortion and arguments against open air evangelism: Refuted.

Hi everyone.
I do not know how many of you have been following Apologia Church in their quest to End Abortion Now. One of the ways that they are doing this is by taking videos from their time at the abortion mill and posting them on the web to equip other Christians in this ministry. Just last night I watched their video Planned Parenthood Activist: Refuted. It was a conversation that they recorded outside Planned Parenthood. For those of you who are active in the fight at the front lines of the abortion mills around the world, you have probably heard plenty of terrible arguments from those who try to justify the murder of the preborn.

For those who are not familiar with these arguments I would like to take some time and give some ways to nicely refute these arguments. Realize that I said nicely. We are called to give a defense of our faith yet we are to do it in gentleness and respect, (1 Peter 3:15). We should not mercilessly beat our opponents over the head and then leave them there hopeless with a demolished worldview. As Sye Ten Bruggencate has said, "Be about the cure" Instead we should gently show them the error of their ways and that they are sinners in need of the Savior. We should show them that their worldview is wrong and that it is absurd. We should show them the logical conclusion of their worldview and show them that if their worldview was true, which it is not, it would lead to the absurd conclusion that you could not know anything at all. Since they do know things to be true it proves that their worldview is wrong and the Christian worldview is right.

Here are some arguments I have heard from those who promote abortion and answers from me:

Argument #1) "It is just a clump of cells".
Answer: No it is not. At the moment of conception it is a human being, created in the image of God, deserving of the same protection as any other human being. The baby in the womb is no less human then the person making the argument. And, by the way, all humans are clumps of cells. That is what our bodies are made out of. For some reason I do not think that they would agree with that logic if a murderer used it in a court defense though.

Argument #2) "It is not a baby it is a fetus".
Answer: The word fetus simply means offspring.  And the offspring of a human is a human, nothing else. A human cannot give birth to anything that is not human. It is still a baby created in the image of God.

Argument #3) "But it cannot survive without its mother."
Answer: You could not survive if God did not give you every breath of air that you take. Everyone is completely dependent on God for their lives.

Argument #4) "The mother may not be able to take care of a baby".
Answer: We are willing to help women who need it. No matter what situation the baby will be born into is not a reason for you to murder them before they are born.

Argument #5) What if the mother does not want a baby at this point in her life? Should she be burdened with taking care of a child if she does not want to."
Answer: If she did not want a baby she should not have been in a relationship with a man so that she could get pregnant if she did not want a baby. And babies are still blessings no matter if the parents accept that gift or not.

Argument #6) "What if the mother was raped?"
Answer: A child shall not be punished for the sins of their fathers. The man should be punished but the baby is still a gift from God and should be recognized and treated as such.

Argument #7) "My body my choice."
Answer: The body inside your body is a baby and is not your body.

Another thing that those involved in open air evangelism and abortion ministry may hear does not always come from the world, sometimes it comes from those in the church. Here are a few arguments that you may hear from professing Christians. And we must again answer with gentleness and respect.

Argument #1) "By preaching in the open air you may turn people away from God"
Answer: People who have not been bought by the blood of Jesus Christ are already dead in their trespasses and sins and we can not make them any more dead than they already are. We preach in the hopes that God will work in their lives and that He will grant them repentance and faith so that they may have eternal life. We proclaim Christ because we are commanded to by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. People already rejected God and we preach so that they may hear the words of life.

Argument #2) "Your method is just too radical".
Answer: Jesus preached in the open air so why shouldn't we? Christ is the ultimate example and we should follow Him in all that we do. You also can find a lot of people on the street that you would never find other places. We go where the people are and that may seem radical to some but we will proclaim Christ in the highways and byways the message of the Gospel is the most important message every told and Christ is the only one worthy of worship. Are we willing to give all to see the Gospel proclaimed?

Argument #3) "Preaching on the street looks confrontational. Can't you find a way that is not so confrontational?"
Answer: People are suppressing the truth about God and spitting in His face. The truth of the Gospel is confrontational. While we should be gentle in our approach we must speak the truth even if it offends some people. Not everyone will accept the message of Christ but we were still commanded to preach the Gospel. Christ did not say "Preach the Gospel but do not confront sin." When the Gospel is proclaimed sin will be confronted.

Argument #4) "Your message does not sound loving."
Answer: If the Gospel does not sound loving to you, you do not understand it. The people of this world are dead in their sins and the message of the Gospel is the only thing that can save them from an eternity in hell under the wrath of Almighty God. Sharing the Gospel with them is the most loving thing we could ever do for them.

Please follow the link below to see more of what atheist Penn Jillette said because it is powerful: Gospel coalition. I have to say, I totally agree with Penn Jillette on this issue and I think that this quote is worth posting. Even though he is an atheist, he does have this right. As he has said before,

"How much do you have to hate somebody to believe everlasting life is possible and not tell them that? “I mean, if I believed, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that a truck was coming at you, and you didn’t believe that truck was bearing down on you, there is a certain point where I tackle you. And this is more important than that.”

Argument #5) " Judge not."
Answer: We are supposed to proclaim Christ and the Gospel. We are not condemning them. They are already condemned for their sins against a holy and righteous God. We are just telling them that there is hope in Jesus Christ and that He is willing to save anyone who will turn to him in repentance and faith. Matthew 7 does not say not to judge, but to judge righteously and understand that we will all be judged by God. We apply His standard to expose sin, but don't stand in judgement. Rather, we urge people to repent before the coming judgement.

Prayer Points
Please be praying for persecuted Christians around the world. These are our brothers and sisters in Christ who have given their lives for the sake of Christ. Pray that they will be comforted by God and that they will continue to be bold in their faith. Pray for their safety and pray for their families as they to suffer when their loved ones are persecuted.

Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body. Hebrews 13:3

With love in the Lord,
Virginia.
