Hi everyone.
So I said I would try to write a post about why my family wears head coverings. So here it is.
1 Corinthians 11:2-16 is one of the passages that talks about wives wearing  head coverings. The greek word gune could be translated to say woman or wife depending on the context. I think it safe to say that this text applies at least to married women and may apply to non married women as well.

In our family we feel that, even if my sister and I do not have to wear head coverings it will be good practice for us. So that when we do get married we do not have to change our practice it will just be part of our life.

According to 1 Corinthians 11, the head of every man is Christ ,the head of every women is man and the head of Christ is God. The bible also says that a women's hair is her glory. When a man's head is uncovered he is displaying the glory of God.When the head of a woman is uncovered she is displaying the glory of man. Since we were created to glorify God we should not be showing the glory of man but the glory of God. Therefore a wife should cover her head.

According to 1 Thessalonians 5:17 we should always be in an attitude of prayer. If 1 Corinthians 11 says that a wife should cover her head whenever she is praying or prophesying; Shouldn't wives cover their heads all the time? In my family, Mommy, my sister, and I wear our head covers most of time. There are some times when we forget to put them on in the morning or something like that, but if you see recent pictures of my family us girls will probably be wearing head covers. (except for the baby.)

In 1 Corinthians 11 it also says that if a wife will not cover her head then she should cut her hair short. But it also says that it is a shame for a woman to have short hair. If a women has long hair it is a glory to her. It seems like God is trying to tell wives to cover their heads. In my family all of us girls have long hair, and all the boys have short hair.

Some of you may have realized that in verse 15 of 1 Corinthians 11 it says that "her hair is given to her for a covering." The greek word translated here as "covering" is different than the word translated as "covering" in the verses before. (One of these greek words is katakalypto hence the web address of this blog.) the word translated "covering" in verses 2-14 means veil. If it Meant hair, than does that mean that all men have to be bald when praying or prophesying according to this passage? It does not make sense if the hair of women is her covering.

I hope this serves as a way of explanation as to my the girls in my family wear head coverings. Please leave a comment and let me know what you think of this post.

I would like to ask for prayers for Buddy Davis. He works for "Answers In Genesis." He will be having heart surgery on Thursday and I am sure he would appreciate prayers. Please pray also for persecuted Christians all around the world. Pray that God will comfort them and their families as they face persecution. Pray also for those who are persecuting Christians. Pray that God will draw them to Himself and that they will turn from their evil ways and turn to God, the only one that can save them from their sins.

End of the challenge, We Love Babies!

Hi everyone,
I realized that I did not write about our time at the abortion mill last week. There is one guy who owns a guitar shop next door to the abortion mill, and let's just say he is not so happy with us being out there. Last week he came up and called Daddy "stupid" and said "You don't know what you are talking about" when Daddy told him he was reading the Bible. He said "You're stupid because you can read" Daddy then asked him what the definition of stupid was, his answer "you". Persecution often follows the preaching of the Gospel, and is not always logical.

Later the same day "M" poured mop water on the ground in front of his building which then rolled down the sidewalk towards my friend's children who were sitting on a blanket on the public sidewalk in front of his shop. While we do not know what the policeman said, he did go talk to him afterwards. Please pray that God will save him from his sins and draw him to Himself.

This week I decided to write a tract to give to the people going for an abortion. Today I was able to give away one tract to a lady who walked in, While I do not know if she read it or not, at least she had it and may have seen the big bold words across the top of the tract that said "WE LOVE YOU AND YOUR BABY". At least now she has our email and knows where to go for help. Please pray that she decided to save the life of her baby.

Yesterday there were about 19 people besides our family out on the sidewalk some people were holding signs, some were passing out tracts. My friend Andrew was preaching, and others were there talking to people who were willing to listen.

Tomorrow our family is planning to go out to hold signs on the street. If anyone in our area wants to come join us, we will at the bottom of the hill in front of the Knox Museum in Thomaston around 1: 30pm tomorrow.

I am excited to hear the sermon at church tomorrow as our pastor should be preaching through the first part of 1 Corinthians 11 and I am interested to see what he says about it. Me, my Mom and my younger sister all wear head coverings but we are the only women in our church that wear them. I will try to write a post about why we wear them later.

So the last part of the challenge is this: Try to do something that God is calling you to do, no matter the cost. Do not fear man and what he may do to you. God has not given us as Christians a spirit of fear but a spirit of peace. We do not need to fear man who can destroy our flesh, but God who can destroy both flesh and spirit. Obey God no matter what man will do to you.

For prayer requests: Please pray for our pastor as he will be preaching tomorrow. Pray that he will speak what God wants him speak and also pray that he will stick to what  the Bible says, even if that is opposed to what a lot of Biblical commentators say. Please pray also for your family of Christians worldwide as they labor to bring the gospel to people all around the world. Please pray that God will give them the strength to endure whatever persecution they may face.

With love in the LORD,

Challenge continues,Father's Day, bold witnesses

Hello everyone.
I am excited to announce the birth of my cousin "R". He was born on Wednesday and he is adorable!
He and my aunt came over today and I was glad I was able to hold him. I hope that God draws him to Himself at a young age. I am also excited to tell everyone that my friends in Cambodia were able to save a baby from abortion and about a week ago the baby's young Christian parents welcomed a new little girl into this world. I pray that her parents bring her up in the fear and admonition of the LORD and I pray that God draws her to himself at a young age.

Yesterday we decided to not to go to the first service at our church and instead we made a "Happy Fathers Day" sign and went out to hold signs on the street before church. After that we decided to go to a church where we had never seen anyone before so that we could see if anyone would be there on a Sunday morning.

When we showed up there were 2 cars there so we decided to go inside, there were a couple ladies there and they invited us to stay for the service so we did. It was a very short service but it was very good as well.

After Church we came home and had lunch and then headed out to Fort Edgecomb which is a fort from the war of 1812. It was built in 1808 and is home to an octagonal blockhouse which is the best preserved blockhouse from that period. The blockhouse was a timber frame building, the timbers that were used to build it were about 18 inch by 18 inch beams. The bottom floor was about 20 feet across and the second floor was about 30 feet  across. It was an amazing place to go see.

In personal Bible I am still in Psalms and and in family Bible we are reading from multiple different books depending on what day you ask, using a Chronological Bible reading plan. Right now we are reading about the time right after when Solomon's temple was built.

So here is the next part of the challenge: Try doing something so that people do not even have to talk to you to know you are a Christian, for example, write all bible verses on your car, start singing gospel songs when you are out in town or even quote Bible verses to other people in your family you can even make it into to a game of who can remember the most Bible verses. As an example of this just the other day my family and I were in goodwill and someone walked up to us and asked us what church we went to.

I do have to say my family and I do stick out as all of us girls except the baby wear head coverings and all us girls were skirts and our van may have something to do with it as 5 of the windows have writing on them which say things like: CHOOSE LIFE, REPENT AND BELIEVE THE GOSPEL,EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, and as we use window markers our signs can be changed whenever they start to come off.

For prayer requests I would like to ask for prayers for all the women that may have abortions that they will not murder their children and that God will draw them to Himself , and also for one woman who my friends and I met outside the abortion mill as far as I know she has not had an abortion yet please pray that she will go on to have this child and pray that she and the babies father will be saved by the grace of God. I would also like to ask for prayers for my friends in Cambodia as they will be heading back to the states in a few weeks. Also please be praying for a young man from our church as he is in the hospital and the doctors are not sure what is going on, and please pray that his mother will be patient  as the doctors try to figure out what to do.

With love in the LORD,
Virginia

So the last few days have been busy.
On Friday my family and I went to Portland (a big city about an 1 1/2 or 2 hours away). My brother had some medical tests so Mommy, took my 2 youngest siblings and my grandmother and went to the hospital while Me, Daddy, and my 2 other siblings that still live at home went to the abortion mill.

While we were there a man named Andrew, who preaches on the street outside the mill, told us that a couple weeks ago he met a man who's girlfriend or wife (I am not sure which one, as I was not there) had had an abortion, he was so depressed that he was in a suicidal state, Andrew got to talk to him and pray with him and when Andrew walked away the man came up to him and handed him a knife and said "please take this from me". While they may not have saved the life of the baby they did save the life of this man. Praise the LORD for his mercy on this mans life, please pray that God will draw this man to Himself.

On Saturday we got to go to a "Voice Of The Martyrs" conference that was held about and 1 1/2 hours away, we had a great time and we got to meet a couple of amazing people including Gracia Burnham,  Benny Matthews, Gilbert Hovsepion and Sarah Liu.

On Sunday we went to church in the morning where our pastor spoke on Joshua 7:1-13 about Achan and things that are devoted to the LORD,

After church we went out to the street corner to hold gospel signs. One time when my sister went to get something out of the car, a woman pulled up and handed her a loaf of bread with a card taped to it which had John 3:16 hand written on the front of it. Although we do not know who this woman was we would like to thank her for blessing our family in this way.

I am happy to announce the birth of my youngest niece "I" (while she is not actually my niece her mom stayed with my family for a while when she was in high school  and she is now treated as part of the family.) While I will not get to meet her for a while as she and her family live in Canada. I pray that she be brought up in the fear and admonition of the LORD and that the LORD will draw her to Himself at a young age.

Yesterday I got to pick lettuce out of our garden. We have about 3,000 square feet of our garden planted and so far we have been able to pick radishes and now lettuce, in a few months we should be harvesting peas, green beans, peppers, romanescu  and a lot more.

In the next few days we should be celebrating the birth of my newest cousin a little boy named "R" he is a week and a half past due and I think my aunt is ready for him to be born!

While I may have missed a few days of my personal Bible I just read Psalms 42, and in family we are reading Proverbs.

I will post the next part of the challenge a little early, here it is: Do something that shows someone that you do not know that you are a Christian, whether it be passing out a gospel tract, holding gospel signs out on the street, or starting a conversation about God with someone you see at the store, at the park, or wherever.

It would not be unusual for Mommy to come home and tell Daddy that someone who she met once at the park will be coming over for supper the next week, it has happened before in our house! We have made friends by just talking to people at the playground it is a great place to start conversations, and for those that have a hard time starting a conversation try asking people about their kids, and then you can go on to tell them that children are a blessing from God and you can tell them about the kids in your family, it may go on to a deeper talk about God with someone you have never even met before.

For prayer requests I would like to ask you to pray for: My niece "I" and her mother and my aunt and little "R" please pray that everyone is healthy, and that everything goes well with the birth of "R"  and please pray for our family of persecuted Christians around the world pray that God gives them strength to endure whatever persecution they face and pray that they stand strong in the faith.

With love in the LORD,
Virginia.

Join me in reading God's Word!

Hi everyone
I would like to use this blog to encourage other young women to live as the LORD calls. I am now 13 and as my family and I serve the LORD I want to be able to share what I am doing and to hopefully challenge others to be bold in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I know that I am not doing nearly enough for the LORD. but I hope that as I begin to share what the LORD is doing in my life it will serve as a kind of accountability for me.

I would like to start a challenge for young women. I will try to post often, I would like others to join me as I try to glorify God in all I do.

Right now in my personal Bible time I am reading the book of the Psalms. And in family Bible we are doing a chronological Bible so right now we reading about Solomon. If anyone wants to have a good laugh try getting together as a family and read Song of Solomon. It was our Bible reading the other day and everyone had a good time.

I will try to post what am reading in Bible, and also what ministry my family and I are doing. I will also try to write about my life and I would also like to write about a variety of other topics.

So I said I wanted to start a challenge, so here is the first part of the challenge: Read your Bible everyday for a week, at the end of the week tell someone what you are reading and ask them what they are doing for Bible.

I would also like to share a prayer request: for the next couple weeks Robert Gray, Mike Stockwell and about 8 other street preachers are in England sharing the gospel. You can for their safety and you can also pray that God will change peoples hearts and minds and that God will draw the people of England to Himself.

I will try to post again soon, with love in the LORD
